Canine Operational Service Medal

The Canine Operational Service Medal was introduced on 8 June 2017 and acknowledges the significant contributions of Military Working Dogs during operational service. This Medal is a component of the Defence internal recognition scheme and is not included in the Australian Honours and Awards System. The Australian Defence Force stands as the first to establish such recognition. Military Working Dogs that have completed 30 days of continuous or cumulative service on a recognized operation are eligible for this award.
