The L1A1 Semi-Automatic Rifle, Royal Australian Air Force also known as the Self Loading Rifle (SLR) was the standard weapon used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) – Airfield Defence Guards during the second half of the 20th century. By the late 1950s, the Australian Armed Forces decided to adopt a new self-loading rifle firing the standard NATO cartridge. The SLR is now out of service and has been superseded by the new 5.56mm F88 AuSteyr Individual Weapon.

Some information about the rifle is displayed, then sealed at the rear for protection. These rifles are made from metal here in Australia and not in China. This display is handcrafted by a former Defence Force Member.

Information: Australian-made rifle recreated in great detail. This quality 1/6th scale miniature model is die-cast in a zinc alloy before being hand-finished and measures 18cm long.
