The 173rd Aviation Squadron Australian Army (173 Avn Sqn) is an Australian Army aviation unit. Hello and welcome to Framed Memorabilia and Militaria! The 6th Aviation Regiment is equipped with MRH-90 Taipan helicopters and forms part of the 16th Aviation Brigade. 6 Avn Regt provides air mobility for the Australian Army Special Operations Command. 173 Avn Sqn is based at Luscombe Airfield, Holsworthy Barracks, Sydney and forms part of the 6th Aviation Regiment.

The Regiment was formed in 2008 to command the Army’s special forces helicopter squadron and its surveillance aircraft squadron. The 6th Aviation Regiment forms part of the 16th Aviation Brigade.
