The Australian Army is the principal land warfare force of Australia, part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) along with the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force. 36 Water Transport Troop is part of the 35th Water Transport Squadron, which is a sub-unit of the 10th Force Support Battalion, 17th Brigade.

The 36 Water Transport Troop (36 WTT) forms part of the 35 Water Transport Squadron (35 WTS) Royal Australian Corps of Transport attached to the 10th Force Support Battalion (10 FSB) as a part of the 17th Brigade of the Australian Army.
