HMAS Orion Submarine Qualification Badge – HMAS Orion (S 61) was an Oberon-class submarine of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). One of the first six Oberon-class boats ordered for the Royal Australian Navy. Hello and welcome to Framed Memorabilia and Militaria! The RAN is the naval force of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). In the RAN Submarine Service, submariners who pass the qualification test are awarded the badge with two dolphins and a crown, known as the ‘dolphins’.

HMAS Orion Submarine Qualification Badge. The Naval Board approved the introduction of a distinctive Royal Australian Navy, Submarine Qualification badge to wear by qualified submarine personnel. This highly prestigious Dolphin’s badge is of gold-plated gilding metal in the form of a brooch depicting two dolphins’ nose-to-nose supporting a crown.
