Lee Enfield Short Magazine No 1 Mk III Rifle

Framed for display is the 1/6th scale miniature model of the Lee Enfield Short Magazine No 1 Mk III Rifle. The Official Name is Rifle Short Magazine Lee Enfield .303-inch Mk III/III* which entered service with British Army in January 1907 and was the standard-issue rifle during the First World War. By the end of the war, almost four million SMLE Mk III and Mk III* rifles had been issued and variants would remain in service in the British Army until 1957. Used in WWI, WWII, and Korea*.

The rifle became known simply as the “three-oh-three”.
