We are excited to showcase a beautifully framed collection featuring the regimental badge of the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE). The Australian Army is Australia’s principal land warfare force, a part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Corps of Royal Australian Engineers have been at the forefront of national response since its humble beginnings as the Corps of Volunteer Engineers in 1860. Military working dogs have served alongside Australia’s defence forces since the First World War and continue to play a vital role in domestic and international operations today.

The Royal Australian Engineers Badge is the Royal Cipher monogram which is surrounded by the Garter belonging to Queen Elizabeth II. The monogram changes with each new monarch. The Royal Engineers practice of calling their private soldiers “Sappers”, in recognition of the fact that the very earliest engineers had been primarily concerned with driving saps (tunnels) both towards the enemy lines, and underneath fortifications.

The shadow box can be wall mounted or free stand on a tabletop. Some information about the badge is displayed and then sealed at the rear for protection.
